Dear Professor Kyewon Koh Park,

It is my pleasure to offer the warmest congratulations of the Iranian Mathematical Society (IMS) to the Committee for Women in Mathematics (CWM) for its successful establishment of the Asian-Oceanian Women in Mathematics (AOWM). I would also congratulate the founders of the AOWM for their great works.

    With no doubt, women in mathematics have been helping the advancement of mathematics since the ancient Greece era. The establishment of the international organization AOWM will certainly build a network of women mathematicians working in Asian and Oceanian countries to promote the opportunity to recognize women in mathematics and to encourage young females particularly study mathematics at the higher levels of research and teaching.

    The Iranian women mathematicians have always played important role in shaping mathematics nationally and internationally. The Women’s Committee of IMS, established in 2017, is one of the active committees of IMS with international contributions and influence. The proposal for “May 12: Women in Mathematics Day’’ was proposed by the Women’s Committee of IMS which is one of the organizers of this event as well. This committee proposed the Maryam Mirzakhani Prize which is awarded annually by IMS to an Iranian woman mathematician for her outstanding contributions to the mathematical sciences. This committee has several national and international programs to motivate Iranian woman mathematicians to involve in mathematical studies and to provide the opportunity to encourage young girls to study a higher level of mathematics. I strongly believe that the IMS and in particular Women’s Committee of IMS do their best and use all their efforts and potential to achieve the aims of the AOWM.
