دکتر پیمان قهرمانی ۱۳۶۴–۱۳۹۸

اخیراً دکتر سیامک نوربلوچی استاد آمار دانشگاه مینه سوتا در آمریکا اطلاع دادند که با کمال تأسف فراوان، ریاضیدان جوان دکتر پیمان قهرمانی، در سن ۳۴ سالگی، مدت کوتاهی پس از دریافت درجه دکترای ریاضی از دانشگاه مینه سوتا، بر اثر سکته قلبی فوت کرده است.

دکتر نوربلوچی متنی را که پروفسور گنادی لیوبزنیک استاد راهنمای دکتری قهرمانی برای جامعه ریاضی ایران تهیه کرده‌اند ارسال نموده‌اند. دکتر حسین ذاکری استاد ریاضی دانشگاه خوارزمی استاد راهنمای پایان نامه کارشناسی ارشد  قهرمانی نیز متنی را ارسال نموده‌اند.

انجمن ریاضی ایران ضایعه درگذشت دکتر پیمان قهرمانی را به خانواده محترم ایشان و جامعه ریاضی کشور تسلیت می گوید. 

یادمان‌های دکتر حسین ذاکری و پرفسور لیوبرنیک به شرح زیر است:

به یاد دکتر پیمان قهرمانی

 از شنیدن خبر درگذشت ریاضیدان جوان  دکتر پیمان قهرمانی بسیار متأسف شدم.  قهرمانی در بخشی از دوران تحصیل خود دانشجوی کارشناسی ارشد دانشگاه خوارزمی بود. اینجانب با او در کلاس جبر پیشرفته آشنا شدم و سپس راهنمایی پایان‌نامه کارشناسی ارشد او را تحت عنوان «مدول‌های سالی از رتبه یک» بر عهده داشتم. وی دانشجویی خوش فکر، با استعداد و علاقمند به پژوهش در زمینه جبر جابجایی بود. با توجه به سابقه درخشان تحصیلی، نامبرده بلافاصله در دوره دکتری دانشگاه مینه سوتا پذیرفته شد و تحت راهنمایی استاد برجسته ریاضی پروفسور گنادی لیوبزنیک در تیرماه ۱۳۹۸ از رساله خود با عنوان

 The Bernstein Inequality for Formal Power Series

دفاع کرد.

در کمال تأسف با خبر شدیم که  دکتر قهرمانی پس از گذشت حدود شش ماه از فارغ التحصیلی بر اثر حمله قلبی فوت کرده‌اند. اینجانب با نهایت اندوه خاموش شدن این شمع نورانی را خدمت خانواده محترم ایشان و جامعه ریاضی کشورمان تسلیت عرض می‌کنم.

:In the memory of Peyman Ghahremani

I learned of Peyman on 11 October 2011. That day he sent me an e-mail from Iran expressing interest in doing a Ph.D. under my supervision. His file looked impressive. I replied that I would be happy to be his advisor and communicated my interest in him to our departmental graduate admissions committee. He was accepted to our Ph.D. program and arrived in Minneapolis on 24 July 2012. He looked happy and of course I was happy to welcome him to a new chapter of his life

He began his studies as all graduate students do. The first year he took the standard graduate courses that are obligatory for all students regardless of specialization. Next year he studied and passed an examination in the specialized area that I had recommended – local cohomology and D-modules. After that he was ready to work on his thesis problem, which was on D-modules

His work resulted in a thesis entitled “The Bernstein Inequality for Formal Power Series”. This is an important contribution to the theory of D-modules over the ring of formal power series. Theses usually remain unpublished but people often publish papers based on the results of their theses. Based on his thesis Peyman wrote a paper entitled “A Short Proof of the Bernstein Inequality for Formal Power Series” and on 21 July 2019 submitted it for publication to the journal “Proceeding of the American Mathematical Society”. This paper has already been accepted for publication by the journal but has not yet appeared in print (see https://www.ams.org/cgi-bin/mstrack/accepted_papers/proc)

Peyman defended his thesis on 4 July 2019. He already had a job waiting for him. At his thesis defense he looked as happy and smiling as when he first arrived in Minneapolis in July 2012. Another chapter of his life was beginning and he had everything it takes to make the best of it. I still find it hard to believe that only half a year later I would come to his funeral. A heart attack cut him down in his prime. His death was both extremely tragic and completely unexpected

I extend my deepest condolences to his family. May his soul rest in peace
